Information and Education Sessions

The need to provide information to anyone with an interest in cerebral palsy and disability related issues is recognised and is currently a focus of Cerebral Palsy Tasmania. Information packs are available for schools, families and carers and the organisation responds to requests to provide speakers. .

Funding Assistance .

Financial assistance is available to people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Requests for assistance in purchasing equipment and services can be made by individuals, families or therapists.

Gait Analysis

Assessment Is conducted at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, and assesses the gait of the child with cerebral palsy. Gait analysis gives an indication of what surgery or mobility equipment is best suitable for the child. .

CP Tipshop .

CP Tip Shop employs adults with disabilities and operates in partnership with the Kingborough Council at the Baretta Tip Site in Margate. The Tip Shop is the focus for the collection of re-saleable goods. Supported employees take part in training programmes, providing them with new workplace skills.

 

 

The Hart Walker Program

In partnership with the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Tasmania administers the Hart Walker Program. The Hart Walker gives hands-free mobility to many children with cerebral palsy. The Organisation conducts statewide fitting clinics, assessments, provision and ongoing care of the Walker. Training is also provided for the one qualified Physiotherapist in Tasmania.

The Equipment & Technology Library (ETL)

ETL is a statewide service to all schools, supporting students with disabilities with the provision of items of equipment and technology. The service receives funding from multiple sources, both federal and state, and employs a physiotherapist and occupational therapist, along with support staff to administer their service.  

Transport

Cerebral Palsy Tasmania is contracted to provide a regular transport service for students with disabilities to and from school in the greater Hobart area. Over 60 children are transported every year on our fleet of full accessible buses. Our buses are available for hire by community groups. For a quote, please contact on 6228 4488.
