CP Awareness Week Launch: “Count Me In”

This event will be officially launched by Patron of Cerebral Palsy Tasmania,
His Excellency the Honourable Peter Underwood AC, Governor of Tasmania
To kick off the celebration of National Cerebral Palsy (CP) Awareness Week, Cerebral Palsy Tasmania will launch the Virtual Music Instrument ( VMI ).
Children and young people with cerebral palsy are mostly unable to play a musical keyboard and even less likely to be able to hold a musical instrument. The Virtual Music Instrument (VMI) will enable participants to study, learn, compose and perform music. This will also enable them and their families to be included in artistic, cultural and social interaction, previously often denied them.
This program would be the first of its kind in Tasmania and has been made possible through the generous support of Vodafone Foundation.
Official Opening of The Hunt

Cerebral Palsy Tasmania is proud to announce the official opening of The Hunt, which will complement the the Kingborough Resource Recovery Centre at Margate. The Hunt is an opportunity shop selling a vast range of antiques and collectibles and is the training venue of CPTas’ Australian Disability Enterprise which employs individuals with disability in a supported employment environment. With the fabulous support from the community in Kingborough Council and Sen Catryna Bilyk, the Hunt will be the only accessible training facility catering to supported employees with a physical disability.

Open Day – The Equipment & Technology Library

Venue : The Equipment & Technology Library, St John’s Park ( the old Wingfield Building )
The Equipment & Technology Library (ETL) is an and has been an integral service delivery of Cerebral Palsy Tasmania for over the last 13 years. The ETL provides therapeutic equipment and technology to all school going children in Tasmania and as a state-wide service funded by the Department of Education and Department of Health & Human Services, the ETL has been meeting the challenges and needs of educational outcomes for school children living with a disability.
The Open Day will show case the equipment that is currently available to all schools and allow for all stakeholders alike, to engage in meaningful discussions and collaborations in the light of the state-wide equipment scheme currently under review.

Following on from the successful community partnership and engagement which begun last year, CP Tas is proud to launch this year’s community and corporate partnership programs.
1000kms4kids
Based on the brainchild of local Hobart businessman Charles Seaman, CPT is proud to announce the official launch of the 1000kms4Kids Fundraiser. The event slated for 01 – 26 January 2011 will see both Charles Seaman and Callum Fagg undertake the world’s most challenging fundraising event – swimming, running and kayaking over 1000kms starting from Marrawah in the north-west coast and traversing along the Tasmanian coastline for 26 days ending up at Kingston beach on the 26th of January. All funds raised will go towards the CPTas Second Skins Dynamic Splints Appeal.
Annual Grape A Fare
This will be the third year that management students from Drysdale Institute will organise the highly successful Grape A Fare. The students have been instrumental in the organisation, management and execution of the event which will not only showcase Tasmanian wines and cheese this year but importantly showcase the young aspiring talents of the students at Drysdale. This year’s event promises to be a first for many things – it will also showcase Tasmanian music with collaboration with Amplified, it will feature Steve Cumper, voted Country Style Magazine’s Country Chef of the Year 2010 . The event will be held at TMAG Courtyard on 4th September 2010 from 2.00pm to 6.00pm and will be hosted by local radio celebrity Tim Cox. Tickets will go on sale after the 6th of August.
