Our Board

The Board of Cerebral Palsy Tasmania is made up of 9 Directors from various commercial and industry backgrounds, who volunteer their time to oversee the strategic direction of the organisation. 

Chairperson

cptgeorge.jpgGeorge Piechowiak is a retired Inspector of Police and joined the Board of Cerebral Palsy Tasmania in 2006.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Graduate Certificate in Applied Management. George believes his background in administration and management including access to a broad network of community contacts will be an advantage to Cerebral Palsy Tasmania.  George urges anyone who wishes to discuss any matters concerning CP Tas to contact him via the Contact Us page. 

 

Vice-Chairperson

David PearceDavid Pearce OAM JP has been a member of the Board since 1992 and his association with the organisation stretches back some 45 years. He is a graduate from the University of Tasmania, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. David has a strong background in Human Rights, Ethics and Service Provision to persons living with disability. David is a serving Alderman on the Glenorchy City Council, and has received several awards for services to people with disability and the community, including The Medal of The Order of Australia (OAM), and the "Shine On Rotary International Award". David is also the first Tasmanian to earn the Distinguished Service Award (Medal) by Cerebral Palsy Australia in 2009.

Board Members 

 Colin_Allen_Photo_1smColin Allen graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Business, and  is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). He is also a Member of the Institute of Management Consultants (MIMC) and the Australian Institute of Management (MAIM).

 Colin is a founding director of his own business established in 1999 to consult in general business development encompassing marketing, operations, finances and strategic development. He has considerable experience as a practicing director on several boards, and has been a Board Member of Cerebral Palsy Tasmania since June 2006.

Alan Evans

Alan Evans is Corporation Secretary for Hydro Tasmania and became a Board Member in 2006. Alan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries Australia, as well as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Corporate Managers. He is a Director of the Direction Consulting Group, as well as The Hobart Clinic.

   Michael_sm Michael Mulley has over 20 years experience across financial services with roles incorporating banking, financial planning and superannuation. Michael is a senior Financial Planning Manager with the National Australia Bank. Michael holds a Bachelor of Business, Masters in Financial Planning and several Post graduate Diplomas in Financial Planning. Michael has been married to Rebecca for 15 years and has a 3 year old daughter Alexandria. Together with his role with the NAB and Board position with CPTAS Michael is also an Officer in the Australian Army Reserve.

Amanda Bergmann joined the Cerebral Palsy Tasmania Board of Directors in 2007.  She is a Sales Consultant with Charlotte Peterswald for Property.  In addition to her sales experience Amanda is a keen trainer and speaker, focusing on the topics of contemporary internet usage and online marketing.

Amanda worked as a Disability Support Worker for Optia Inc. for four years, and has also worked as a volunteer for Headway and Hazelwood School.  Through this experience (and associated study) she has an appreciation of the complexities and challenges that individuals living with a disability may face.

Amanda is also Vice President of TasIT, the peak industry body for the information and communication technology industry.

frank_pearce1.jpgFrank Pearce has been Glenorchy City Council's General Manager since July 2001.  He is a CPA and has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics plus a Master of Business Administration Degree.

Frank has extensive local government experience in addition to his role at Glenorchy, with 7 years at senior management level at the City of Fremantle in WA.  Prior to that, he managed the internal audit and treasury functions for Transperth, Perth's public transport provider. He previously worked for a variety of Commonwealth Government agencies in Western Australia, gaining extensive experience in accounting, performance auditing, general administration and management.

Frank is the President of Local Government Managers Australia (Tasmania) and is an active member of the Glenorchy Rotary Club.

vg_photo.jpgVanessa Goodwin is a Member of the Legislative Council, representing the electorate of Pembroke in Southern Tasmania. Previously, Vanessa worked in the Department of Police and Emergency Management for 11 years. During her time with the Department, she played an instrumental role in implementing the U-Turn program for young people involved in, or at risk of involvement in, motor vehicle theft. Vanessa has previously been employed as the Associate to the Chief Justice and the Governor's Research Assistant.

Vanessa has a PhD in Law from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Philosophy (Criminology) from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tasmania.

Vanessa is a Board Member of the Kangaroo Bay Rotary Club, and has a strong interest in humanitarian projects and social justice issues.
